30+ Years Clinical Experience

Hi, I’m David M. Blue, MD — a board-certified anesthesiologist with more than 30 years of clinical experience in perioperative medicine, physiology, and patient safety. Over my career I’ve practiced both hospital-based anesthesia and chronic pain management, giving me a practical understanding of how medications, procedures, and lifestyle factors interact in real patients. I’m also completing additional training in integrative and functional medicine because I believe deeply in combining traditional medical practice with evidence-based approaches to long-term wellness.

My subspecialty focus includes pediatric and neonatal anesthesia, caring for some of the most vulnerable patients in the operating room. This work requires careful attention to physiology, dosing, and risk–benefit decisions - skills that carry over directly into how I evaluate supplements and health claims for adults as well.

Today, I practice full-time in the operating room, managing anesthesia for a wide range of surgical patients while staying closely connected to day-to-day clinical realities rather than abstract theory.

A Background That Bridges Medicine and Everyday Wellness

In addition to my operating room work, I previously devoted part of my practice to chronic pain management. Working with patients over months and years, I saw the complex interplay between inflammation, movement, medications, mental health, and lifestyle.

That experience sharpened my interest in evidence-based, supportive therapies - including nutritional supplements - that can complement conventional care. It also showed me how easily people can be misled by oversimplified or exaggerated health claims.

I began formal training in integrative and functional medicine to add a broader systems perspective and to better integrate diet, sleep, stress, and environmental factors into my recommendations for long-term health.

Why I Started Health Doc

I created Health Doc because I kept seeing the same problem over and over again:
People were trying to make good decisions about their health, but the online information they found was often confusing, sensationalized, or simply wrong.

I wanted to build a place where readers could find clear, evidence-based explanations of supplements, conditions, and wellness topics — without hype, without fear-based messaging, and without hidden agendas. Just science, explained in plain language.

Since Health Doc is my personal project and brand, everything here reflects my approach to medicine: practical, data-driven, and grounded in real clinical experience.

How I Create and Review Content

Every article on Health Doc is:

I use AI tools to help sift through research, summarize study findings, and structure drafts more efficiently. However, the expertise, analysis, and medical judgment behind each article come from me. I personally review every study cited and rewrite all content to ensure accuracy, safety, and clarity before it’s published.

My goal is to give you the information I wish my own patients had when they first started asking questions about supplements, metabolism, energy, sleep, hormones, and long-term wellness.

My Medical Interests

I’m especially interested in:

Outside the Operating Room

When I’m not working, I enjoy getting outdoors, traveling with my wife and our two long-haired dachshunds, swimming, diving, and doing the things that remind me why health matters in the first place — not for numbers on a lab report, but for living a fuller, more meaningful life.
